New Brunswick is proud to have over 3,500 individuals living in our province of Ukrainian descent.  They have found a home in New Brunswick, and they have become an important part of the fabric of our province.

The Government of New Brunswick (GNB) is committed to supporting Ukrainians affected by the current crisis and has donated $100,000 to the National Bank of Ukraine for humanitarian aid. We plan to continue to support Ukrainians by offering a safe haven to those who are willing to relocate.

New Brunswick is working closely with federal government, community partners, and businesses, to ensure all Ukrainians have a safe place to work and live in our province.

The New Brunswick Multicultural Council has created an informational webpage and a registration form for New Brunswickers willing to provide temporary shelter for displaced Ukrainians as well as guidelines and answers to FAQs for newcomers fleeing the war in Ukraine and settling in New Brunswick.

Information for Ukrainian Nationals

On March 3, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a special temporary residence pathway for Ukrainians seeking refuge in Canada:  The Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) will allow an unlimited number of Ukrainian nationals to receive a visitor, worker, or student visa valid for up to 3 years upon arrival in Canada.  In addition, Canada will prioritize permanent residency applications submitted under family reunification class for immediate family members who are affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Becoming a permanent resident of New Brunswick

Ukrainian citizens arriving in New Brunswick under the (CUAET) will be able to apply for permanent residency once they meet the criteria for the selected immigration program.

CUAET has been created specifically to assist with the current situation and will be the most appropriate stream for many Ukrainian nationals. There are other available streams to immigrate to New Brunswick that may be a better fit and Ukraine applicants will be prioritized.  Please review all the available immigration streams.
